Wandering Home
An e-zine style camping and RV website, designed with fluid layout and warm editorial photography.

Project Details
E-Zine Website
I created this camping and RV website with an e-zine layout for a User Experience Design class. The site was designed to host articles, reviews, and editorial content for outdoor enthusiasts. I used Sketch for layout and InVision for interactive prototyping.
Research
I reviewed existing camping and RV websites to understand common visual approaches: how they organized content, what color palettes they used, and how they balanced photography with text. The aim was to find a direction that felt fresh without sacrificing readability.
Ideation and Sketches
I wanted a fluid layout that let the user navigate freely through the main page and select which articles to read. The initial name for the site was Wandering Gypsy, but the instructor suggested the name had a negative connotation and could be offensive. It was renamed Wandering Home.
Digital Concepts
I produced a few digital concepts to test different layouts. After initial feedback from the instructor and peers, I rearranged some elements and paid closer attention to spacing and type selection. I also began sourcing stock photography that complemented the outdoor theme, aiming for a warm, editorial aesthetic rather than a corporate feel.
Revisions
I focused on the header area, particularly the frosted-glass effect and hero image. The navigation received similar attention: I replaced the display typeface with a clean sans-serif for improved readability. The original green color palette worked well for an outdoors theme, but I shifted toward a warmer palette centered on orange to give the site a more inviting tone.
Final Design
I refined the spacing and hierarchy across the layout, settling on a typeface that felt modern and approachable. The warm color palette, combined with the editorial photography and fluid layout, gave the site a magazine-like quality that suited the content.
